After months with testing Sportsim launches the first beta version of the Mobile Locater. The idea behind the Mobile Locater is to transform your cell phone into an on-line tracking device. Looks like it is working, but how much data is sent (thinking about the phone costs).

The cost depends on your provider, but to give you an idea: I ran the ING NYC marathon in 2007 using the GPS. Data was transmittet through my Norwegian provider. This is expensive, but did only cost around 80 USD for 4 h.
